Best Buy honors their accidental protection plan.
Damaged Laptop
My old laptop (ASUS G1S) had soda spilled on it and wouldn’t turn on. I brought the damaged laptop to Best Buy and explained the catastrophe. The Geek Squad agent said it would be anywhere from 1-4 weeks depending on if the laptop was going to be replaced or repaired. If replaced about a week and repaired about 4 weeks. I noticed while checking the status online, Best Buy was waiting on me. The Geek Squad didn’t notify me I had to call them and ask them what exactly the status meant. He told me the laptop was eligible for an exchange. Once eligible for exchange you must work with a sales person to find a laptop.
Exchange Process and Specs
When replacing laptops the sales associate will determine screen size, of your old laptop. Depending on screen size of broken laptop Best Buy will try to match. I had a 15.4″ screen but they didn’t have any ASUS 15.4″ laptops so they bumped me up to the 17.3″ ASUS they had available. The laptop I received has an Intel Core i7, 6gb DDR3 ram, 500gb HDD (but has additional slot for another HDD), and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD5870 GPU. The Windows Experience Index:
- Processor : 7.0
- Memory (RAM): 7.4
- Graphics: 6.9
- Gaming Graphics: 6.9
- Primary Hard Disk: 5.9
The sales associate and manager were both very helpful and understanding.
